I am sure by this late date you have reeived many replies to this post about the Loray Mill. Just in case you haven't received this particular bit of info:

The Loray Mill site is located in West Gastonia, Gaston County just off Hwy 74, Franklin Boulevard. The last news I had was that it was being converted to condos. The mill was also the former home of Firestone for many years. There was a large community built around the Loray and there is a church also named Loray there. Many of the old mill houses still stand. You can probably find a volunteer from Gaston County to do any look ups for you on your family lines. The Loray Mill was the center of a large community in Gastonia for a long time. Gaston County was the leading textile center in the world during Textile manaufacturings hey day. Good luck finding your family.
