I am helping a person whose Whitson line had connections with Haywood Co., NC which borders Cocke Co., TN where my Whitson ancestor lived. This is the info. the person sent me:

James M. Whitson b. 17 Nov. 1826 NC d. 1904 GA married Sarah Kathryn Robinson nee McCracken ca. 1869. Sarah Kathryn was b. 1833 in Crabtree Township, Haywood Co., NC. Her parents were Acton McCracken and Joysey Poteet. Sarah Kathryn's first husband was William S. Robinson/Roberson and they were married 30 Sep. 1852 in Haywood Co., NC.

The question is who were James M. Whitson's parents?
