At that time, marriages were documented with a Marriage Bond. All marriage bonds that still exist are in the NC State Archives, 107 E. Jones St., Raleigh, NC 27601-2807. You can write to them and they can send you a copy if it exists. There will probably be a small fee. It would probably be faster and less expensive if you just asked them if there were such a record, and what the record said in the way of names, dates and bondsmen.
