When I sent for the military records for David Allen of Haywood County, I received records for 3 different companys. (see below) My Grandfather indicated that his father, David joined early in the war and served all during the war. I would like to be sure that all these records pretain to my David, who was born about 1834-35.
Does anyone know of any other David Allen of Haywood County for this time period??
Co. F, 25th Regiment N.C. Troops. This Company was known as the "Haywood Highlanders" David Allen was listed on its rolls from June 29, 1861 to March 8, 1862 when he was discharged for disability.
June 29, 1861, David Allen enlisted as a volunteer in Co. F. He was age 27.
July & August, 1861, present, paid $10.00, Camp Clingman
Sept & Oct., 1861, present, paid $10.00, Camp Davis, Wilmington, NC
Nov. & Dec., 1861, present, Camp Dee, SC
Jan & Feb, 1862, present
8 March 1862, discharged for disability, Camp Dee, SC
Co. I, 62nd Regiment, NC Troops
July 1, 1862, David Allen enlisted at Waynesville for three years or the war.
July & Aug, 1862, David is on the company muster roll, listed as being absent from 27 August on sick furlough.
Sept & Oct, 1862, Absent sick from Aug. 31, Discharged.
Co. C, 25th Regiment NC Troops. David. Allen, Enlisted in this Company in Haywood County April 6, 1863 for the War. Present or accounted for until paroled at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, April 9, 1865.
April 6, 1863, David Allen enlisted at Waynesville for 3 years. This record lists his age as 27.
May & June 1863, present, Seven Pines, Virginia
July & Aug 1863, present, Petersburg, Virginia & Garysburg, NC
Sept & Oct 1863, present, Weldon, NC
Nov & Dec 1863, present
Nov & Dec 1864, present, last paid Dec 1863
Jan & Feb 1865, present, last paid Oct 1864
April 9, 1865, David A. Allen is listed on the Roll of Prisoners of Way as Paroled at Appomattox Court House.
