There is a Hezekiah (spelled Hesaciah) Seay listed in the 1850 census in Haywood Co., NC. He was born abt 1780 in VA. Before moving to Haywood, he liven in Spartanburg, SC (1840 census). I have just discovered this line in my husband's family, and have very little info so far.

I tried to look for a Hezekiah Burns in Haywood, 1850, and none came up. There are two Hezekiah Seays in the census, a 70 yr old and a 37 yr old. Father and son?

I find the Burns/Seay story intriguing, especially the connection to Nancy Ann Walker, since there is a story of Indian blood in that branch of the family. However, since "our" Hezekiah Seay is listed in 1840 SC, I don't believe he is the former Burns. And since I didn't even find Hezekiah Burns in Haywood 1850, I wonder about the story?
