I am interested in learning if during your research you have encountered the name of Riley and or Rossiter in your research. I have a John Robert Riley who was supposedly born in 1787 in NC. He had to have had parents there at that time. They migrated west thru KY, OH, IN before settling in Clay Co, IL. Somewhere during this time John Robert Riley married a Catherine Rossiter born abt 1795 MD. Their first son was born in abt 1819 in OH. this means that John Robert Riley & Catherine Rossiter were in OH in 1819. This James Married a Sarah Ann Shepherd in Tippecanoe, IN, about 1839. This means this family was in IN at this time. They had five more children in IN. John 1821, William abt 1825, Vesta Ann who married Davis Foster in Clay Co, Sanford born abt 1834 & Marion born abt 1837 IN. They should have records in IN during this time. My brother in the early 1940s during WWII during his assignment there. Unfortunately, he was very ill when he disclosed this information to me while he was living at the Old Soldier's Home in Washington, DC. in 1997, in the hospital there. He died shortly thereafter. Would appreciate any help in trying to solve this mystery. Betty Harbin Garbers Notify Administrator about this message?
