I don't know if this was a couple we discussed before, but this GIDEON RICHARDSON, b. 1794 Halifax Co/d. Oct 1880 Nash Co., was the son of PHEROBE RICHARDSON, b. 1761 NC/d. 1850-60 Nash Co. (she was living with him in 1850). PHEROBE, also spelled PHEROBY/PHEBE in earlier census records, was in the 1800 & 1820 Halifax Co.NC Census, may have been a wife of either WILLIAM RICHARDSON, who died in Halifax in 1798, or of one of his sons. Although no wife was mentioned in his will, the names of his children were mentioned - sons ELIJAH, MATTHEW, HENRY,WILLIAM, and daughters MOURNING, WINNEY, HARTY, OLIVE and CHRISTIAN. GIDEON had children named WINNEY & OLIVE; PHEROBY RICHARDSON first appeared in the census records in 1800 beside WILLIAM's children.
I don't know PEGGY's maiden name, although others have given her the surname of RICHARDSON, there is no proof of that. GIDEON & PEGGY's children were PETER (m. MARY ANGELINE TABORN), WINNY (m. CALVIN PETTIFORD), GEORGE W. RICHARDSON (m. GILLIE CATHERINE PETTIFORD), ARCHIBALD, ELIZABETH (m. ARCHIBALD PETTIFORD), ROBERT (m. JACKIE JENKINS RICHARDSON), PRESLEY (m. RHODA DELIA RICHARDSON), SALLY (m. JAMES VICK),OLIVE (m. LITTLETON RICHARDSON), and EPSEY (m. JAMES EVANS). PEGGY apparently died shortly after 1850, because GIDEON remarried on March 12, 1857 to ELIZABETH TABORN, b. 1825/d. 1883 Nash Co., they didn't have any children together.
