Dear Mr. Pankow,

Thanks for your reply. Unraveling the Linds*y family out of North Carolina is quite a challenge! Are you familiar with the Clan Lindsay Website and the DNA testing that is going on to differentiate among the various southern Linds*y families? Our family is in DNA group 8, as are most of the North Carolina families. Do you know if the family you descried is in the Group #8 lineage?

My reason for this odd and very vague question is that MY ancestor John L. Lindsey (b. ca. 1760?) marries an unknown lady probably in the Chatham County NC area or in the area you reference aroudn the 1780s, and had a large family, moving west, ultimately to Wayne County, Tenn. An elder son is named "Meredith" and I wondered if that was a mother's maiden name - which would help us track down the elusive Mrs. Lindsey.

Thank you for your help. There just might be a connection here!
