Mona, thank you for posting all of this information. I do know that the David Quate in the 1860 census is my great-grandfather who married Elizabeth Lloyd "Liddie" about 1869 I think. Their first daughter, Louisa Adeline, was born in Indiana in 1870. I couldn't figure out why she would have been the only child of David and "Liddie" born in Indiana when all the others were born in North Carolina and Tennessee. Alexander Quate and Elizabeth Williams are my great-great-grandparents, I do know that for sure (David A. Quate's parents). I didn't realize that "Sally" is a nickname for Sarah. I've seen Lydia Broadstreet listed on a marriage record but it appeared that one of them was 11 years old according to the typed version of the record. This could be an error in the transcription though. Hmmm, I will pursue all the information you've written down here. Thank you so very much for taking the time to respond to my post.
