I'm trying to find the family of John goddard. He was born around Gilford Co c1765-1770. He could not read or write. Could any body tell me if there were any families with this name or one simular in the area of that time? He was in the battle of the Gilford Co courthouse in the rev war. That was the time he signed up. He lived in the area until about 1790 and then left for SC. Do not know if he married here or married in SC.
