I'm trying to find the family of John Goddard b c1765 in Gulford Co,NC. He could not read or write and was in the Rev War and at the battle of the Gilford Co courthouse with Gen Green. I know there are two other counties that are now seperated from Gilford but can anyone help me find any people that would have been in this area at the time of his birth? The name has many spellings Gothard,Godard,Godiard etc. It is said that he was mixed blood. Unsure of this but his children marry natives.
