My great grandfather, Robert Perry Johnson, was born in Graham Co.(then Cherokee County) on Jan. 5, 1871. His mother was Sarah Ann Johnson and his father is said to be a Hudson. A Sarah Johnston is listed in North Carolina Bastardy Bonds with a date of 1871 and a bondsman named Thomas Brown. Normally the child's father was the bondsman or the woman's father. Sarah Ann's father was William Faten Johnson born Dec. 22, 1814 in Rutherford Co., NC. He died in Sherman, Tx. in 1895. William was married to Eddy or Eden Johnston, also born in Rutherford Co.,NC. Her parents were born in SC. Sarah Ann married a Crisp then later Frazier Alexander Romans who was an orphan born in Georgia Aug. 1854. These people didn't stay in one place long. They went back and forth from NC to Georgia, then Tennessee (from one end to the other) and ended up moving to Sherman, Texas in 1894. All are buried there. I desperately want to know who Robert Perry Johnson's father was and I don't know whether I should be looking for a Hudson or Thomas Brown. Does anyone out there know anything about these families? Please help!!
