Birth Records for Forsyth County
Posted by: Amy Kennedy (ID *****5239) Date: January 03, 2011 at 14:32:35

Just a question. Why is it so difficult to find birth indexes for Forsyth County, NC? I have been looking for any birth records for 1800-1900 and can not find any listed anywhere. Other than Moravian records which are earlier, I have not been able to find any birth records for Forsyth County. Even Ancestry.com NC Birth Index 1800-200 does not include records for Forsyth County.

Was there a fire, were the records lost, or did they not maintain an index for Forsyth County? I have searched the Internet looking for an answer, but have found nothing on the subject. I am curious if there are even records available or should I abandon the idea of finding these records and start looking for other sources, since the birth indexes I have found in other counties have been helpful to my research.

Any leads would be appreciated.
