Brandon -- Based on your information, I think Ulysses' parents were:
- William Lewis Porter, born May 1875 in NC.
- Lizzie Unknown, born February 1878.
They were married in 1895, and in June 1900, they were farming on leased land in Fall Creek Township, Yadkin Co. William Lewis was the son of John Porter (Jack, born 1830) and Susan Williams (born 1846), who were in Fall Creek in 1880.

In April 1910, William L. Porter and wife Lizzie P. were farming at 141 Glenn & Speas Ferry Road in East Bend. "Eulus" was working on the farm. By 1920, Ulysses had left, but his parents were still farming in East Bend. William Lewis Porter died on 7 January 1921 in East Bend. His death certificate says that he was born on 6 May 1875 and was the son of Jack Porter and Susan Williams.

Hope this helps you on your journey -- Gordon
