George W. Kennedy c 1809-1883 NC>GA

Seeking information on George Washington Kennedy (c 1809-1883)who was living in Stokes County in 1830 and 1840. In 1850 he was included in the 1850 Forsyth County census since that county was created from the southern half of Stokes County in 1849. His wife was Isabella (c 1812-1883). This is not the same George W. Kennedy who was born c 1815 and is listed in the 1850 Davidson County, North Carolina census. That George W. Kennedy was married to Zelpha Stokes and they had five children (Louisa, David, Elizabeth, Frances and Chriscilla). All were born in North Carolina with the oldest (Louisa) having been born c 1838.

My George W. Kennedy married Isabella Unknown about 1829. Their children included: Susan E. (born c 1831); James W. (born c 1833); Edward W. (born c 1837); Laura C. (born c 1839); Frances A. (born c 1843); John H. (born c 1845); Frank A. (born c 1850); Mary Alice (born 1852); and Florence E. (born c 1856).

Davidson County, North Carolina had a large contingent of Kennedy family members. Forsyth County, North Carolina is adjacent to Davidson County so there must be a connection between my George W. Kennedy and the Davidson County Kennedy families. George W. Kennedy was born in North Carolina according to all the census returns that I have examined (1850-1880) with one exception. The 1870 census shows he was born in Virginia. I believe this to be a mistake. He probably thought the census enumerator was asking the birth location of his father. All his children were also born in North Carolina.

George W. Kennedy and his wife Isabella both died in Atlanta in 1883 and are buried at Oakland Cemetery. I have an old family bible which belonged to Mary Alice Kennedy Woods which contains a good deal of information on this Kennedy family. In 1860 he was living in Marion County, Georgia. By 1870 he was recorded in the Fulton County, Georgia census and was also in that county in 1880. His occupation was listed as carpenter, contractor or sewing machine salesman in these census returns.

Thanks in advance for any help that may be offered in answer to this query.
