Elisabeth Briggs (1784-1871) Mrs. William Lindsay

I am looking for the parents of my 4th great grandmother, Elisabeth Briggs (1784-1871), who married William Lindsay (1777-1841) in Stokes Co., NC in 1807. I presume she was from Stokes Co., as she moved back there after William's death, to the town of Kernersville, which became a part of Forsyth Co. in 1849. William was the son of Judge Robert Lindsay (c.1735-1801) who had a 2,000 acre plantation on Deep River, where Guilford Co. was founded in 1771, and his second wife Ann "Nancy" McGee (1754-1832). Kernersville is only about 6 miles from the site of the old Lindsay plantation on Deep River.

William Lindsay and Elisabeth Briggs had eight children: Guilianna Lindsay Field (my line), William Pinckney Lindsay, Dr. Robert C. Lindsay, John Henry Lindsay, Lavinia Lindsay Saunders, Amanda Lindsay Ross Armfield, Sarah Lindsay Henley, and Dr. Andrew D. Lindsay.

I would be most grateful for any information anyone could give me.

Best Regards,

John Field Pankow
Asheville, NC
