Evan Ephraim (went by Ephraim) ROTHROCK was born 14 Dec 1819 at Friedberg, present day Forsyth County, North Carolina and died before 1880, presumably in Bartholomew County, Indiana. He was the third of nine known children of Martin ROTHROCK (b. 22 Sep 1787 at Friedberg, present day Forsyth County, North Carolina; d. 18 Jun 1864 at Davidson County, North Carolina) who married Maria Rosina HOEHNS (b. 25 Feb 1796 at NC; d. 27 Apr 1851 at NC) on 22 Dec 1814 at Friedberg, present day Forsyth County, North Carolina.

Ephraim married Katherine Salome EBERT (b. 05 Aug 1818 in present day Forsyth County, NC; d. 14 Sep 1898 at Bartholomew County, Indiana) on 02 Jan 1840 at Davidson County, North Carolina. Katherine was the five of seven children of Johann Martin (went by Martin) EBERT (b. 28 Oct 1776 in NC) and Salome (Catherine Salome? or Sophia Salome?) KASTNER (b. 1784 in NC). Martin and Salome EBERT were still living in 1870 and found in the Flat Rock Township, Bartholomew County, Page 101, Indiana census.

Ephraim and Katherine EBERT ROTHROCK are buried at the Liberty Cemetery, at Clifford, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Their headstones have been destroyed over the years. In 1850 Ephraim and Katherine, and their first four children, were living at the Northern Division (Family #211), Davidson County, North Carolina close to Katherine's parents. In 1860 the family (parents and first seven children) was living at Flat Rock Township, Page 72, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Katherine's parents, who had also moved, were living close by. The first six children were born in North Carolina and seventh in Indiana indicating the ROTHROCK family had moved from North Carolina to Indiana between 1857 and 1859. In 1870 in the family (parents and children Martin, Eliza, Adelaide, Mary, Melissa and Della) were living at Flat Rock Township, Page 112, Bartholomew County, Indiana. In 1880 the widow Katherine and single children Eliza, John, Amanda, Melissa and Della were living at Flat Rock Township, Page 99A, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Ephraim was a member and deacon of the Beulah Reformed Church while they lived in Davidson County, North Carolina.

The nine known children of Ephraim and Katherine EBERT ROTHROCK were:

1.       Martin F. ROTHROCK (1841-1919)

2.       Elizabeth R. ROTHROCK (1843-1886)
