You have the wrong Samuel Williams if you are referring to the one who died abt 1753 in Edgecombe. This is his lineage:
Samuel WILLIAMS (ca 1698-1753 Edgecombe) and Elizabeth ALSTON (ca 1711- d. btn 1792/1805) who lived in Edgecombe Co.; Samuel was the son of William WILLIAMS who died ca 1711, and his wife Mary MOORE. William's will dated Dec.9, 1704, named his sons Samuel, John, and Stephen, plus unnamed daughters. Elizabeth was the dau/of Col. John ALSTON (ca 1673 -1758) & Mary CLARK (ca 1684- 1765) of Chowan Co.; Elizabeth married Richard BURT, on sept.17, 1765 in Halifax Co.,NC, after the death of her husband, Samuel WILLIAMS. The children of Samuel WILLIAMS & Elizabeth ALSTON were:

1. William WILLIAMS (ca 1725- Dec.22, 1778 Martin Co.) was a Colonel in the Martin Co.,NC. Militia, as well as a member of the Provincial Congess & Constitutional Convention in 1776. He married Elizabeth WHITMEL (dau/of Thomas WHITMEL) on Oct. 2, 1746 (this was her 3rd marriage, she was previously married to George POLLOCK, and Capt. Thomas BLOUNT, who left her a widow in 1745). Their children were Samuel WILLIAMS (1753-1805) - m. Charity ALSTON DAWSON (b. 1756); Elizabeth WILLIAMS (1751-1789) - m. John JOHNSTON (ca.1733- 1791 Bertie Co.,NC); William WILLIAMS, a General, lived in Martin Co.,NC - m. 1st, a Mrs. SMITH (nee IRWIN), 2nd, Elizabeth WILLIAMS, his 1st cousin, dau/of Solomon WILLIAMS & Temporance Bod(d)ie.


2. Solomon WILLIAMS (ca 1730 - July 28, 1794 Warren Co.NC) was married on June 23, 1757 to Temporance BODIE (d. May 11, 1784). Their children were William WILLIAMS (1760-1838 Warren Co.,NC) -m. 1st on Dec. 8, 1785 to Ruina (Elizabeth?) WEBB (d. June 22, 1789), 2nd, on Dec. 4, 1790 to Elizabeth Kearney (1769-1863); Samuel WILLIAMS (d.1824 Warren Co.) - m. 1st Mary PERSON, 2nd Mary EATON; Elizabeth WILLIAMS - m. Genl. William WILLIAMS, her cousin (see above); Temporance Boddie WILLIAMS - m. George TUNSTALL; Henry Guston WILLIAMS (1763- 1857 Warren Co.,NC) - m. on Aug. 15, 1793 to Lucy Baker TUNSTALL (b.1775 VA).


3. Samuel WILLIAMS(ca 1735 -1791 Warren Co.,NC) never married, but left most of his property to his brothers and to his slave mistress and their son, whose family he freed at the time of his death.

4. Joseph John WILLIAMS(ca 1740 - 1818) married 1st)Rosanna Conner, 2nd) Elizabeth ALSTON (dau/of Phillip ALSTON & Elizabeth Whitmel);a colonel in the militia, he was a member of the Provincial Congess that met in Halifax in 1776, and was a member of the State Legislature from Halifax in 1777. His children with Rosanna were Martha WILLIAMS -m. 1st Henry HILL, 2nd Samuel T. THORNE; Joseph John WILLIAMS Jr. - m. on Feb.13, 1797 Franklin Co., to Betsy Norfleet Hunter WILLIAMS; Henry WILLIAMS; Rosanna Conner WILLIAMS - m. Dr. Jessie N. FAULCON.
Joseph Sr.'s children with Elizabeth ALSTON were Wineford Whitmel WILLIAMS - m. 1st. James HARRIS, 2nd James HARRIS (cousin of 1st husband); Catherine WILLIAMS - m. Heath ?????; William WILLIAMS, was called "Pretty Billy".


There is much documentation on these families, including their family bibles which give a lot of info on their births, deaths and marriages.
