Hi Peggy, I'm glad to hear from you so soon. Joe Bunyon married Maud Ann Rigsbee, daughter of Walter and Sally Carpenter Rigsbee. Bunn and Maud Ann's son, Vester Nichols married my father's sister, Veola Cooley Nichols. 1900 and 1910 Wake County census has John and Sarah with their children, four in all. 1900 gives John Nichols birth year as 1847 and in 1910 gives the birth year as 1854. Which is correct, if either, I do not know. My cousin says there is some secret about this family, she doen'st know what. She never knew any of her kin folks on Vester's side. She said someone showed up at Uncle Vester's funeral in 1966 and her mother knew them, but was reluctant to talk about it. I just don't know. I have most of the Nichols that are in that area on file but can't find out anything about this John. But let me say, I haven't been to Durham in ages and I really haven't looked at modern day records. Mr. Buss, as I knew him, died in April of 1970. Tell me more about your family and maybe I can come up with something for you.
Thanks for responding. By the way, I was born and raised in Durham and I believe that my father and mother were related to at least 50 to 75 % of the people in that area until the Research Triangel came to be. Let me hear from you soon. Sandy in NC.
