Colvard and Colberts
Posted by: Richard Colbert (ID *****7152) Date: February 18, 2012 at 03:52:34

Trying to establish if Colvard family in Durham Co. is related to Colbert family of Franklin Co. In 1790 the first Federal
Census was taken and my 3rd great-grandfather's name was spelled COLBERT. However, when he died in 1846, he signed his
will as Thomas COLVARD. The same is true of my 4th great-grandfather aka Thomas Calvert/Colvard. He lived in the town
of Halifax from 1758 to 1768 when he moved his family west
to Bute Co (Now Franklin and Warren counties). Number of children 4th GG had is unknown.
