WALLER RESEARCHERS

To all Waller researchers in Duplin and Lenoir Counties, there is a widely propagated error regarding the wife of Nathaniel Waller 1764--1846. His wife is shown to be Nancy J.---- on the tombstone of daughter, Nancy Jane Waller Rodgers, 1805-1882 in Wayne Co., NC at Seven Springs.

The error, which has been widely propagated and pollutes the DAR records, the Lenoir Co. 1850 census on the Lenoir Co. Genweb site and many trees on Ancestry.com, is that many people have mistakenly taken the marriage record of Nathan Waller 1750-1822 to Margaret Johnston to be the record of Nathaniel. WRONG! Please do not continue to add to this erroneous reporting.

Nathaniel and Nathan were two entirely different people who both lived in Duplin Co.at around the same time and probably did business with each other. Nathaniel was a carpenter and Nathan was a magistrate and land entrepreneur.

Please do not jump to conclusions based on the similarity of names! There was also another Nathaniel Waller in Granville Co. about this time as well.
