Carroll, Dempsey and Noah

Noah Carroll, b. 30 Oct. 1799, Duplin Co. NC is my 3rd ggrandfather. He migrated down to Alabama where he died in Elba, Coffee Co. AL on 20 Aug. 1871. I and other descendants are reasonably sure that his father was Dempsey Carroll, b. 22 Dec. 1762, Duplin Co. NC, married Martha (Unknown) after 1790, migrated to Wilcox Co. AL circa 1820-1822 where he died between 1847-1850. We are searching for any record to prove that Dempsey was the father of Noah. Any help or advice appreciated.
