The school at that time in Magnolia was known as Magnolia Public School. Just as it was in Rose Hill, Wallace and other towns in Duplin, it was a primary-elementary-high school combination. The high schools in the county were consolidated starting about the mid-1950s. Magnolia, Kenansville and Warsaw were combined into James Kenan High School.
