Amber, My brother was in n c some years ago and met one of my father's cousins and she mentioned that some of our cousins were in Georgia as well as our family was into logging on the coast of n c.I have looked at it one died in early part of 1836 and the other the last part.I think there is some connection between them, how not sure. I found the information on Elisha in Alabama on BLM.com web site and then found bound book records of abstract legal documents in our library which had the counties in Alabama he lived ,it was edited by a lady in Alabama. It had records of Elisha's death and heirs and widow and there marriage earlier. I think Elisha in Alabama was into land speculation since that area was Indian territory before the Indians were encouraged to leave by Gen. Jackson and on the BLM site there was a Elijah Hunter also some the Dunns and Martins may have been involved some how since they came to Alabama.I think there was a lot more to this than meets the eye, also that our ancestors moved from coast of n c and they were involved in logging on the coast of n c.They may have owned a plantation. There are some Hunter families that lived on the coast and some were owners of plantations. My father had reminded me that the youngest son may not get very little and the oldest all of the inheritance may not be mentioned. I have been looking there some. There naming system is similar to ours. I have took note of the Celtic naming systems to extract some names within my Hunter and Crocker families. I think some of the Hunters are connected that lived in Mecklenburg,Stanley,Anson co. as well as nearby counties but I have not found the connection yet. Some information indicates our Hunters came from Maryland to Va. then to NC.I may have to use the DNA testing to get a decent clue. I use rootsweb.com site and Genforum.com on the Hunter, Crocker as well as other parts of my family. What records have you found of Ephraim Hunter.Ephraim and Sarah Crocker Had five children Elijah and Martha b. 1801 maybe twins or born each end of 1801. Eliza Mary b. maybe 1803, Harry(sometimes Henry) A.(Avery) Hunter My descent,Anne P. the youngest. Sarah may have had a sister next door married to a Lyle also another Crocker married a Hunter(William?)in NC. In the inheritance of Elisha of Ala. Ephraim's children are mentioned, as well as another Mary Hunter and Elizabeth Hunter as I have mentioned before I think were children of Elijah(1801). I have put notation on some of the names since there are several with the same name including Elisha in Ala brother to Ephraim(1777),Elisha Daniel son of Harry A. Hunter, grandson of Ephraim(1777). Elijah Hunter, there were several in our family. One was an older brother of Ephraim(Hunter), Another was Ephraim's oldest son(we think)ELijah (b.1801)CELTIC NAMING SYSTEM)as well as Harry's children and Elijah's. I have not found the connection with who Elijah Hunter(the brother of Ephraim) and the other Hunters in Mecklenburg,Anson and nearby counties and his children. There are several Hunter families during that time period as well as other families used Bible names. My father was the only one who didn't have a bible name. These bible names we are connected indicate that we are connected to some other Hunter Families in AR,NC,MA,Va,Ga,maybe Ala.,Ca. and TX maybe Tenn and Kentucky. Some I know we are and others I suspect. Donald Hunter Notify Administrator about this message?
