Jerry,

I am researching my Riddle family line and my tie to Abington Phelps is through his 2nd marriage to Nancy E. Riddle, dau. of Lewis Emerson and Jane Gullet Riddle.

My question is related to James Harrison Phelps, son of Abington and Nancy Orrell Phelps. I show that James married Mahala Myers/Meyers and they are both buried in the Advance UMC cemetery. The death date for James is listed as May 16, 1891. Is that correct? Did James H. have a son named Uriah Hugh Phelps? In the 1900 Davie county census, I find a James Phelps (middle initial hard to read, but index shows it to be "H"), with a son named Uriah. If this is the same James H. Phelps, then obviously he did not die in 1891.

Can you shed some light on this?
