Jean,
I looked at the original 1880 census and the census lists the sons of Solomon G. Baker as David & Leander Baker. I think the transcribers of the census made a mistake.

Also, I found a family tree listed on Ancestry listing Solomon G. Baker's wife as Martha J. Griffin. They married on September 17, 1871 according to the family tree. I checked the 1870 census and there is a Martha J. Griffin in Davie County (Clarksville) NC listed as the daughter of Edward (age 55) and Margaret (age 50). Hope this helps you out :)
