Looking for "Anderson" of NC or Va whos family married into Parnell's

Looking for information on possible relative named Anderson or Andersen. First name maybe Robert. Robert hails from most likely the piedmont area of (Davie-Rowan County?) North Carolina. Was reported to be a Colonel in the Union army and was reported to be at or near the battle of Vicksburg. Family lore says that he was involved in the blockade of the Mississippi River.

Family names are Esther (Parnell) Anderson. 1888?-1970. She was born in Mocksville Davie County NC. Esther’s parents are Eli and Martha Anderson

Any info would help.
