Davie County Library Look Up
Posted by: Barbara McMahon (ID *****9641) Date: January 02, 2004 at 13:54:40

Hi:

I live in California and can't get to NC any time soon. I'm trying to verify a death date of a great+grandfather, William G. Nash, December 22, 1840 in Davie County, NC. I have copies of probate records, he died intestate, and guardianship papers for his sons. But nothing confirming date of death.

There is a book entitled Marriage and Death Notices from the Western Carolinian, (Salisbury, NC) 1820-1842, by Robert M. Topkins., c1975. I'm hoping that newspaper also covered neighboring counties like Davie.

Could someone please see if the library has it and look up this person for me? I would very much appreciate it.

The date has been handed down in the family, but I have no original source documentation.

Are there any old cemeteries which were in use back then? He was a farmer and probably buried on his land, but just in case.

Thank you.
Barbara Nash McMahon
