The book 1860 Federal Census Davie Co. NC published by Nancy Murphy & Everette Sain lists a J. R. OWEN family probably your John R. Owen: J.R. Owen age 32 Farmer, Laura A. Owen age 33, Mary C. Owen age 15, Henry C. Owen age 15 Gane ? T. Owen (probably Greenberry) age 11, Margaret A.E. Owen age 8, and Sarah M. Owen age 2. This family lived in then the Chinquepin district of Davie Co. The book Davie Co. Marriages 1836-1900 by Nancy Murphy shows John R. Owen and Loverey Ann O’Neal married on April 1, 1848.

You might contact Earl Owens at who has posted the Greenberry T. Owen family on Ancestry World Tree at
Earl Owens states Greenberry T. Owen [without an s] was born in 1849 in Davie Co.NC, died in 1892 in Marion, Indian.

Hope this helps in your search.
