I want to corect misinformation about Jesse. I stated that he appeared on the 1767 Rowan County, NC Tax List, I was misinformed.

Jesse does appear on the 1778 Rowan County Tax List in Capt Cox's District. Also on that Tax List are John Ward and Augustine Davenport. Augustine Davenport does appear on the 1768 Rowan County Tax List living in the area of now Southern Guilford and Northern Randolph Counties. It is listed as William Millikan's District. If you are searching for others on this Tax List the information can be found at:

Jesse's first recorded event in Rowan County was when he was appointed Overseer of the Road in Feb 1773. This is found in the Abstracts of the Minutes of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessons Rowan County, North Carolina 1763-1774 Vol II,page 145, abstracted by Jo White Linn in 1979.
"Jesse Harris from Guilford Line on Cape Fear Road to old trading post"

It appears that Jesse did not accompany the Davenports to Rowan, NC, but arrived between 1768-1773.
