Does anyone have any information on John C Mitchell b. ca. 1770 probably in Craven Co., NC. He married Dorcas Wyndham on 4 Jan 1797 in Craven Co., NC. Dorcas' name was spelled Winnum on the marriage bond, but was spelled Wyndham on her son Guilford Dudley Mitchell's tombstone which showed he was born in Sumner Co., Tennessee and gave his the name of his mother and father. Dorcas apparently died before 1840 as it appears that John C. Mitchell is living with his son Guilford D. Mitchell in Yalobusha Co., MS in 1840. He was shown on the 1850 Warren Co., MS census living with Guilford. I have seen internet files that show John C. Mitchell as a son of Abraham Mitchell of Craven Co., NC. Any help will be appreciated..
