What great info! I talked, via email, with Hugh Willis many years ago.

I recently took the FamilyTreeDNA test and they tell me I am related to Rev. Joseph Willis, b. about 1713, Craven Co., NC. I have not been able to connect my gggrandfather, Jesse Willis, b. GA abt. 1810 to him. Jesse Married Martha, LNU, from GA and they had three children in GA before moving to Dale Co., AL just prior to 1840. My ggrandfather, Iverson Asbury Willis, was born in GA in 1838 and died on 31Dec1862 at Murfreesboro, TN fighting for "I" Company, Alabama 33rd Infantry Regt.
I think my Jesse is connected with Joel Willis, Jr. who is buried in Ozark, AL in the Union Cemetery. Jesse showed up on the 1840,1850, and 1860 Dale Co., federal census. Wish I could tie him to Joseph Willis of Craven Co., NC.

Merry Christmas, Rod Willis, Tallahassee, FL
