Parents of Edward Willis who married Susannah Willis

I'm hitting a roadblock with this Edward. He was born about 1770 in Craven County, NC. I have found several references to him being a Baptist preacher.

He married the daughter of Joshua Willis and Martha Pearce, with whom he shared great-great-grandparents, but who were HIS parents?

I have found him listed several times as the son of Samuel Willis Jr. and Sarah Norman, but then I cannot find any Samuel Willis who had a son named Edward! I have found information on Samuel and Sarah, but no Edward listed among their children.

Can anyone clarify this for me?
