Smithfield, N. C. 27577.

Duplin-Sampson Deed Book 3, page 347, Matthew Spivey is
listed here, the date is l3 (month missing) 1769. John
Hilburn sells to Matthew Spivey for 10 pounds 150 acres on
the northwest side of the Six Runs between John Rackly's
land and Joseph Register's land. This has to be near or
on the Crane Creek. Single witness was Samuel Elkins.

On page 358, book 3, Matthew Spivey is a witness to a deed
dated 23 Oct 1761.

In book 5, page52, Matthew Spivey sells to Matthew Johnson
150 acres on the northwest side of Six Runs beween adjoin-
ing lands belonging to John Rackly and William Bryant.

In book 5, page 52 Matthew Spivey buys 150 acres from
Thomas Stroud on the west side of Crane Creek. The deed
mentions Peter Pridgen Branch, the land was part of a tract
granted to James Cook by patent 26 Sept 1763. Witnesses
were Benjamin Register and Matthew Johnson.
