I am researching only the William Spivey, Sr. line, but
do know something about his brother, Edmund Spivey, Sr.'s
line as well.

William Spivey, Sr., b. ca l759, Edmund Spivey, Sr., b ca
l755, Bladen Co., N. C., Nathan and Matthew Spivey IV
were sons of Matthew Spivey III, b. ca l730, who lived
in and around Sampson Co., N. C. He was the son of
Matthew Spivey II, b. l676, Nansemond Co., Va, who
married Sarah Nichols ca l698. Matthew Spivey II was the
son of Matthew Spivey, Sr, b. ca l658, Nansemond Co., Va.
He married Judith Bowers. Their children were
Matthew Spivey II, b. ca l676

George, b. ca l677

Thomas, b. ca l678 m. Mary Hill ca 1729

Ann b. ca l680 m. John Granberry ca l698

Matthew Spivey, Sr was son of George Spivey, b. ca l630, England, and married Margaret Matthews. One other son
born to George was George Spivey. The birthdate for the
George, the immigrant ancestor, is probably not correct.
