McEntire, Proctor -- 1850 Census
Posted by: d sojka (ID *****2904) Date: March 11, 2006 at 18:31:12

I am trying to tie together some information from the 1850 Census, household #116, which lists Mark Proctor, age 45 / wife Sally, age 46 / Lissa Proctor, age 15 / Polly McEntire, age 14 / Elizabeth McEntire, age 13 / Martha McEntire, age 9 / Rufus McEntire, age 7, and Sarah McEntire, age 3/12. They are living 3 houses from Ransome McEntire and his family. I am trying to determine if Ransome is the son of Mark's sister, Louvinia (Proctor) McEntire, and who the parents of the children listed above are.
I am a descendent of Elizabeth's, and they are found next in the McDowell Co., NC census, 1860, with the last name of Proctor, except that on Eliz (and other siblings) marriage certificate(s), the maiden name is McEntire. Also, on Elizabeth's death certificate, it names her parents as Mark Proctor and Sallie Hancock. If anyone has any information as to this mystery, please contact me. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
