Cleveland County to the Sheriff of Cleveland County , Greetings,
Whereas Aggie Ramsey widow of Alexander Ramsey , lately filed her petition in the Superior Court of said Counrty for Dower in the lands of the said Alexander Ramsey , Dec’d, And Whereas the said Superior Court orderd that a unit of Dower be issued to the Sheriff in her behalf, as it the following lands tennants, and heriditaments in said County of which her said husband died siezed and possessed to wit 86 Acres of land joining the lands of Thos Cagdale,, A C Williamson & al.
These are therefore to command you to summon five free holders connected to the parties neither by consequentley or affinity and entirely disinterested who after being duly sworn by you are to allot and set off to the said, Aggie Ramsey, by proper mites and bounds, One third in value, of all the said lands Tennants and heridiments including therein the dwelling house and all offices, outhouses , buildings and improvements thereunto belonging or in anyway appertaining , during the term of her natural life,
And to put her in the possession of the same and the allotment of Dower made by the said jury after being
Reduced into unity and signed by them, you are to return to the Superior Court

Preston Ramsey Petition for Sale of Land for Petitioner
To the Honorable the Superior Court of Said County,
The Petition of Cynthia Brooks and husband Andrew Brooks, the hiers of Cheves Ramsey deceased to wit, Henry Ramsey and Eliza & John Ramsey infants by their next friend Henry Ramsey, the heirs of Jefferson Ramsey deceased to wit, Jane Bridges wife of J M Bridges, G S Ramsey and Martin Ramsey an Infant under 21 years of age by his next friend Berry Hamrick, respectfully, showeth unto this Honorable Court that thye together with defendant Preston Ramsey are tennants in Common of the Tract of Land consisting of about eighty acres lying in Township No 8. In Cleveland County, and adjoining land of Anderson Williams, thou bequeath others, which lands descended to them as his heirs at law, of Alexander Ramsey,
Deceased, late of the said County, leaving him surviving a widow Aggie Ramsey whi is entitled to Dower in the said land.
And your Petitioner further shows that they _______to have Partition of the said land made amongst them according to their respective rights and intends them, but owing to the size of the said tract the number of portions included the mothers and quality of the ________ and other causes , it is infesible that ____ Partition themselves, can be had without serious injury to the Portions. Your Petitioner therefore, pray this Honorable Court to order a Sale of the said lands on such terms as may be just and responsible, and that the
Proceeds of the Sale may be divided among them and defendants according to their respective interests therein and may be paid them as ________ for them according to the law and the course of this Honorable Court, and that a writ of dower issued to the Sheriff of Cleveland County Commanding him to proceed
The log off and set apart to Aggie Ramsey widow of said Alexander Ramsey her dower in the said lands according to the law ans is in such owns, ______ and provided.and your petitioner will her _______

To the Sheriff of Cleveland County-Greeting
You are hereby commanded to summons John Ramsey & Preston Ramsey the Defendant named above it they be found in your County, to be and appear before the Clerk of our Superior Court , to be held for the county of Cleveland at the Court House in Shelby within 20 days after the service of this Summons the and there to answer the Complaint which with be depoisted in the office of the Clerk of the Superior Court for the Said County, with in the 20 days after the issuing of this summons fail to answer the said complaint within that time , the Plaintiff with take judgement agains the relief descended in the affidavit,
Here in Fail not and of this summons make due return. Given under my and the seal of the said Court

Cleveland County Petition for Sale of Land or Partition
J M Bridges Vs John Ramsey, Preston Ramsey et al.
It appearing to he satisfaction of the Court that defendants John Ramsey and Preston Ramsey against whoin a summons has been issued and returned NOT TO BE FOUND are non-residents of this State, it it therefore Ordered that Publication be made in the Cleveland Banner a newspaper published in the town of Shelby, NC, for 6 weeks successively, notifying the said defendabts of the pendency of this procedding commanding them to appear at the office of the Superior Court Clerk in the Town of Shelby on or before the 1st Day of March, 1874. And answer this complaint filed in the proceeding or judgement will be take against them according to the complaint.
