We are Costners or not or we could be TWICE. below are our Costner family records. When I connected Catherine as mother to Drurry, I then found old family group sheets in Mom's things that named his mother as "Lizzie". It looks like Catherine's maiden name is FORD. The Andrew Ford family is living NEXT DOOR in 1850. I also found a Reverend John Ford & Catherine Ard family in South Carolina that included a Catherine born 1813 ( I think the same person.) This family moved to Mississippi. Andrew Ford lived on the homeplace where his grandparents? were buried--the Brizenden Ford Cemetery. (See the 1900 Census--It appears that Martha COBB Costner was then named FORD. ) Catherine could have been married 4 times, the first Costner (Jacob IV?--b 18 Feb 1819 d 1 Aug 1841, buried in Chester SC.) (This would fit with Grandpa's statement about his uncle being a millionaire--Ambrose Costner 1825-1911 is the ONLY COSTNER millionaire of that time and was living in Mt. Holly, Gaston, NC when Grandpa was a boy--living at Mt Island, Gaston NC another cotton mill. Ambrose was a part owner in cotton mills, supported the Gaston Female College etc.--He was also a brother to Jacob IV and had a sister named Lavina) 7. xi. CATHERINE ARD FORD, b. 02 January 1813. m James McDougal m Alfred Warnock 1844 son J. M. Warnock b1845 d 1908 (--from Ford family info) Then to Noah Whitney (1860 Census, Cleveland NC)--but she always seemed to return her last name to Costner. We have not found the twins Elvina and Elsada b abt 1842--Last Name?? Then there is ELIZABETH. --??? First husband Costner??? (This comes from the 1860 Census in Gaston NC., and Oba T. Hanna's information. They said that Grandpa's sister Katie died in 1922--but I can't find the evidence, This lady certainly did die then.) 1. Thomas F. Quinn was born on 14 Jun 1827 in , Gaston, NC. He died on 25 May 1864 in Richmond, Chesterfield, VA. He was buried in New Philadelphia, Lutheran Church, Gaston, NC. This cemetery is located on the east end of Kings Mountain, NC. Go about 1 fourth of a mile east of the traffic light at the intersection of US 74 Business and NC 161. The cemetery is about a hundred yards off to the south side of the road. Should be pretty close the business with the big metal building if it is there at all. I have not been there. I am looking into a DNA search to prove if we are "Costners" or not--that will come to $170-180. So far, we run to the ladies. We are brick walled in 1850.
