Hartness Family in Cherokee Co.

I am working on my wife's family. Her line is
Sandra Brown Bentley b 1966 Roane Co. Tn.
John Brown b 1937 Roane Co. Tn
Mildred Aleen Graves b. 1922 Tn.
Amanda Elizabeth Hartness b. 1884 Georgia
James S. Hartness b. abt. 1859 North Carolina

I believe I have found him in the 1870 Census for Cherokee Co. in the household of Isaac Rice. The age is correct. I have little other info. In 1900, he and his family were living in Polk Co. Tn.

I am appreciative of any help I can get.
