Would anyone have I believe deed book B and C showing a deed from 1778 where George Ray sold his land on Great Beaver Creek. It might have been Wake co NC but I think it was probably Chatham co NC. I am trying to find out if that George Ray was my ancestor. I would appreciate any guidance anyone could give me on how to find records about George Ray such as tax records in 1778 or church records. My George Ray was in NC then was in Wilkes co Ga by 1786. He joined the Powelton Baptist Church in 1791. The Church minutes said George Ray and wife Rachel transfered from an arm of the New Hope Church or New Hope Baptist Church but it did not say where the New Hope Baptist Church was. The letter of transfer was signed by an elder of the Church named Solomon Smith. There was a Solomon Smith who was an elder of the Has River Baptist Church which I believe was in the Chatham co NC area. George Ray sold his land in 1778 on the Great Beaver Creek which I believe was in that area. It might have been in Wake co NC but it was possibly in Chatham co NC. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Ross
