Dear Neil,Good for you,In every Civil War site there is no information on this unit.My ggggrandfather was Private Lorenzo D.Rudd,he enlisted 7/8/1862,died 10/3/1863 at Ft.Delaware.I think he is burried at Fynns Point National Cemetary.but Im not sure. There is record of L.D.Rudd d.10/3/1863 being burried there.Shows him in 55th nc but see no 55th N.c.Troops at Gettysburg battle. So It was proably a miss print, and it is him burried there.Like most Caswell Co.Calvary men,he was a farmer, and owned no slaves that I find record of.This Unit from what I have read, was in many battles, company B was not engaged at Gettysburg, but covered the retreat, and that is where many of the men of that unit were captured.I don't have any pictures, whish I did,If I can help Let me know,we owe to our brave ancestors never to forget their sacarfice.Sincerly Mike Rudd P.S. who was your soilder?
