Jana,
I'm related to a Richard Smith of Caswell Co. that had a daughter named Mary "Polly" Smith b. ca. 1810 and married a Thomas Reid (Read) in Caswell Co. in 1841. There is a Richard Smith in the 1850 Caswell Census, aged 67 b. VA, with wife Sarah 67, and daughter Susan 26. This may be my Richard.
Also, I am related to a George Smith b. 1782 in Caswell Co. and his wife Sarah "Salley" Jackson b. 1786 in Caswell Co. through their son Jerry, b. ca. 1821, that married Mary A. Rudd in 1855 in Caswell Co. George and Sarah are listed in the 1850 Caswell Census as follows: George 68, Sarah 64, George 37, Jerry 29, and Artelia 27, all born in Caswell County. I believe that the older George's father may be George also, but I have no proof.
