Hi: I am researching a G W Dalton who witnessed the will of William Baker in 1861 in Madison County, Alabama. William Baker was born 1775 in Guilford County, NC and came to New Market, Al by 1807. He married Hannah Edwards in 1801 in Jefferson Cty, TN-daughter of Henry Edwards 1750NC-1838AL. Wm and Hannah Edwards Baker acquired more than a 2000 acre plantation from 1830 through Wm's death in 1861. Hannah's brother Jesse Edwards b1810 Al lived nearby. By 1857 many of their descendants had gone to Missouri and Arkansas (see Mountain Meadows Massacare in Utah 1857) As the Dalton family seems to be closed associated with my Edwards/Baker line from NC to TX...could the G.W. Dalton in 1861 be one and the same... Jessie James was supposed to have been connected to the family in Madison County, Al..Do you have any info on the Alabama Daltons from NC about 1845?
