In a deed dated 20 Dec 1781, Wm. Dye sold James Randolph "50 acreson the ridge between Merritt's Mill Creek and Country line Creek" (adjacent to Lewis Ragsdale and James McGinnis). Could the upper part of Country Line Creek be Merritt's Mill Creek and for a separate mill? Amance Stokes, in his 1817 will left 300 acres and a mill to his wife Susannah for life, then his son Moore Stokes. Do you know where this land was or anything about Moore? Why is it thought that Amance Stokes is the same man as Amasa Stokes?
