Do you think that Ann Smith is Ann Merritt wife of Benjamin Merritt? How does the Smith enter in? For a family who owned so much land and one or more mills, this family the names in this family are difficult to sort out. It appears that the land Ann owned was 510 acres in Halifax Co., Virginia. I need to get to Halifax courthouse. There appear to be two mill creeks in the Milton area, but I don't see another one of any size. I wonder if the upper part of Smith's Mill Creek (aka Country Line Creek) was called Merritt's Mill Creek.
