I'd contact the Clerk of the Court in Yanceyville or the county seat. Remember that many families had elderly parents live with them, but many did not. An elderly person going to the county home was not unusual. Many counties used it, in essence, as a nursing home. Other residents of the county home were indigent and lived there to work a county farm.
