Will book in NC State Archives:
Jane McDaniel, will, no date. Grandson Fletcher Darby, 7 children to have $1 each; all grandchildren $1 each. Grandchildren John W., Mary J., Hyram M., Elizabeth A., Susan C., and Sarah J. Price to have remainder of estate as each comes of lawful age. Land bought of Roan to be sold. Exec.: friend Benjamin F. Stanfield, Calvin Neely, Mary J. Price. (Note: Estate records of Jane McDaniel at NC Archives show will was contested, was taken to superior court, March 1844. In Jan 1844, Book P, William P. Chambers named administrator.)

Caswell Co., NC, March Court, 1841.
Book O, p. 194. Mary KIMBROUGH, will, written 12 March 1841; nephew Dr. Nathaniel M. Roan to have all property except following special legacies to: William Stephens, son of decd sister Elizabeth Stephens; Andrew Stephens and Catharine Hagwood, brother and sister of said William Stephens; Andrew Warrick Stephens, son of William Stephens; Thompson, Logan, William, Minerva, and Elizabeth DARBY, children of neice Ann Darby; James T., John W., Mary Norfleet, Nancy L., Jane, and Margaret A., children of John Roan; Nathaniel, Priscilla, Frances, and Marmaduke children of above named Mary Norfleet. Has given deed of gift to Sarah M. Roan. Negroes to be well provided for with husbands and wives and children to remain together and none to be sold. Old servants Nancy and Billy to be comfortably maintained. Executor Dr. N.M. Roan. Wit: Jno. Kerr Jr., Alexander Wiley. Exec qualified.
