You may be refering to Richard Williston, whose son John Williston moved to Carteret County from Middlesex, VA. in the early 1700's. Williston became Willis in the early 1800's, and it appears that this line of Willis(ton) were the origination of the Willis' of Carteret County. What I have on this line is:

FIRST GENERATION

1. Richard Williston was born about 1680. He died in Middlesex, VA..

He was married to Martha.1 Richard Williston and Martha had the following children:

       2       i.       Martha Williston was born about 1707.
       +3        ii.       John D. Williston Sr. (born about 1709).



SECOND GENERATION

3. John D. Williston Sr. 2 was born about 1709 in Middlesex, VA.. He died about 1785 in Carteret Co., NC. 2

He was married to Mary Martin about 1726 in Carteret Co., NC. 1,3,4 Mary Martin2 was born about 1705 in Ireland. She died before 1785 in Carteret Co., NC. John D. Williston Sr. and Mary Martin had the following children:

       +5       ii.       Ann Williston (born about 1727).
       +6       iii.       Sabra Williston (born about 1728).
       +7       iv.        Tamar Williston (born about 1730).
       8       v.       Daniel Williston2 was born about 1732 in Carteret Co., NC.
       +9       vi.       Mary Didimiah Williston (born about 1732).
       +10       vii.       Samuel Williston (born about 1734).
       +11       viii.       Ebenezer Williston (born about 1734).
       +12       ix.       Sarah Williston (born in 1738).
       +13       x.       Esther Williston (born about 1740).
       +14       xi.       Abigail Williston (born about 1744).
       15       xii.       John D. Williston Jr.2 was born about 1750 in Carteret Co., NC. He died in 1771 in Carteret Co., NC. 2



THIRD GENERATION

4. Thomas Martin Williston 2 was born about 1725 in Carteret Co., NC. He died about 1784 in Carteret Co., NC.

He was married to [unknown].5,1 Thomas Martin Williston and [unknown] had the following children:

       16       i.       Benjamin Williston2 was born between 1745 and 1750 in Carteret Co., NC. He died in 1836.
       17       ii.       Thomas Williston2 was born about 1750 in Carteret Co., NC. He died before 1810.
       18       iii.       Reuben Williston2 was born between 1753 and 1755 in Carteret Co., NC. He died in 1817.
       19       iv.       George Williston2 was born between 1757 and 1760 in Carteret Co., NC. He died in 1843.
       +20       v.       Josephus Willis(ton) (born about 1762).
       21       vi.       Zachariah Williston2 was born about 1765 in Carteret Co., NC. He died in 1788.
       22       vii.       Seth Williston2 was born between 1768 and 1770 in Carteret Co., NC. He signed a will in 1830. He died after 1830.2

5. Ann Williston2 was born about 1727 in Carteret Co., NC.

She was married to George Brin Harris about 1760. Ann Williston and George Brin Harris had the following children:

       23       i.       George Harris2.
       24       ii.       Stokley Harris2.
       25       iii.       Diana Brinn Harris2.
       26       iv.       John Harris2,2 was born about 1761.
                     Disinherited because he joined the crew of a privateer vessel of war on 11/14/1781. His family was devoutly Quaker, and this was totally against their religious beliefs.

       27       v.       Zemoriah Harris 2 was born about 1763 in Hyde Co., NC.
       28       vi.       Millicent (Millie) Harris2 was born about 1765.
       29       vii.       Fereby (Ferbia) Harris2 was born about 1769.
       30       viii.       Ester Harris2 was born about 1770.
       31       ix.       Ichabod Harris2 was born about 1772.

6. Sabra Williston2 was born about 1728 in Carteret Co., NC.

She was married to Benjamin Davis (son of William Davis and Mary Wicker) about 1770.1 Benjamin Davis2,2 was born about 1753 in Carteret Co., NC. He died in 1814 in Carteret Co., NC.
Soldier in the Revolutionary Army.
Cleared the first farm on what is now Davis Shore.
Sabra Williston and Benjamin Davis had the following children:

       32       i.       Archibald Davis2 was born about 1771.
        33       ii.       John Stancil Davis 2 was born about 1773. He died about 1880.2
       34       iii.       Thomas Clifford Davis2 was born about 1775.
       35       iv.       Whittington Davis2 was born about 1776. He died after 1867.
       36       v.        Abiah Davis2 was born about 1780.
       37       vi.       Mary (Polly) Davis2 was born about 1782.
       38       vii.       Clarissa Davis 2 was born about 1783.
       39       viii.       Abigail Davis2 was born about 1788.
        +40       ix.       Keziah Davis (born about 1793).
       +41       x.       Charlotte (Lottie) D. Davis (born about 1796).
       42       xi.       Esther / Hetty Davis2 was born about 1800. She died after 1850.

7. Tamar Williston2 was born about 1730 in Carteret Co., NC.

She was married to Thomas Moore after 1734.4,1 Thomas Moore was born in Shackelford Banks, NC. Tamar Williston and Thomas Moore had the following children:

       +43       i.        Mary "Polly" Moore (born about 1784).

9. Mary Didimiah Williston2 was born about 1732 in Portsmouth Island, Carteret Co., NC.2 She died in 1816.

She was married to David B. Wallace about 1754. David B. Wallace2 was born in Portsmouth Island, Carteret Co., NC. Mary Didimiah Williston and David B. Wallace had the following children:

       44       i.       Robert West Wallace2.
       45       ii.       David B. Wallace Jr.2.
        46       iii.       Esther Wallace2 .
       47       iv.       Nancy Ann Wallace2.
       48       v.        Thomas Clifford Wallace2 was born about 1774. He died about 1795.

He was married to Sarah Rustull (daughter of Richard Rustull Jr. and Sarah Cogdell) about 1754 in Carteret Co., NC.5,4,1,4 Sarah Rustull was born in Carteret Co., NC. She died in Carteret Co., NC. Samuel Williston and Sarah Rustull had the following children:

       52       i.       Abner Williston died after 1822. He was born in Carteret Co., NC.
       53       ii.       Andrew Williston was born in Carteret Co., NC.
       54       iii.       Esther Williston was born in Carteret Co., NC.
       55       iv.       Josiah Williston died in 1832. He was born in Carteret Co., NC.

Sarah Williston and Samuel Guthrie had the following children:

She was married to Robert Gaskins/Gaskill.

14. Abigail Williston2,7 was born about 1744 in Carteret Co., NC. She died between 1823 and 1824.
Daughter of John Williston.

She was married to John Fulford (son of Joseph Fulford Jr.) after Aug 1771.8,7,9 John Fulford8,2,7,7 was born about 1740. He died in 1799 in Carteret Co., NC.
Capt. in N.C. militia, Col. John Easton's regimen, Revolutionary War. Delegate to the North Carolina Ratification Conventions of 1788 and 1789. General Assembly (House) 1786-1787, 1787, 1788, 1790, 1791-1792; Senate 1796, 1797, 1798. Operated a porpoise fishery on the Outer Banks. Abigail Williston and John Fulford had the following children:

       70       i.        Charlotte Fulford7,2.
       71       ii.       Sarah Fulford7.
       72       iii.       Serepta Fulford7.
       73       iv.       Alice Fulford7 was born about 1779. She died before 1823.
       74       v.       Joseph Fulford7 was born between 1783 and 1787.

       76       vii.       Abigail Fulford7 was born after 1786.
       77       viii.       Polly Fulford 7 was born after 1786.
