James,

I checked out the World Connect with Rootsweb. There appears to be three Moses Heltons.

Moses Helton 1774 fought in War of 1812.
Moses B HElton 1817
Moses Helton 1843

I will see if I can find his Civil War Record.

If you will Check out the Helton Family Genealogy Forum you will find a Moses Helton in the War of 1812. I posted his War Record on that forum. http://genforum.genealogy.com/helton/

Then you can check the other two out on World Connect. I am sending you the link. It doesn't mean all of this is right but a lot of it is. It also gives you a lot of different history on the names. It looks like your Moses B HElton was around 1817 and then another at 1843.
