Bisanar cemetery - Walmart- Granite Falls, NC

In May 2007 51 unidentified graves were moved from the site being developed for a Walmart Supercenter to Sunset Hills cemetery in Granite Falls. See the links below:;;

Research of the late Mary Deal Haynes tells of the Bisanar cemetery and I and others have every reason to believe this was the cemetery which was removed from the Walmart site. Mrs. Deal stated Abel Nelson Bisanar, son of Simon Pinkney and Rachel (Starnes) Bisanar, was buried in this cemetery after being killed in the Civil War. Also, Mrs. Deal stated his brother, Joseph Milton Bisanar, 22 feb 1837 - 28 Aug 1857, was buried in Bisanar cemetery.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans plan to erect a monument to Abel Bisanar in Sunset Hills cemetery.

If anyone has any information of the cemetery which was moved or other burials which were made there, please share the information. There are about 50 individuals who need to be indentified.
